From little things, big things GROW!

We are always hearing about anorexia and eating disorders for females, but you don't hear much on that side for the guys. Is it that men have a better strength against body image problems and the phycosis of eating?

Nope!

Men are just as ceceptible as females. In fact young men are currently increasing in a trend that some are donning "bigarexia" the body dismorphia condition that allows someone to look in the mirror and instead if seeing the progress they have made, see a small gain leaving the individual unhappy with the progress.

This leads to thoughts and sometimes action, of steriod abuse, binge eating and OCD level dieting.

What can be done about it?

As most young men like to stir up their buddies, it's really easy to fall into a competitive trap and start to belittle your fellow gym friends. You'll tell them that they are looking small or talk about how you can lift more or look bigger than them. This for a start needs to stop!

Be vigilant of your fellow gym partners or gym brethren, if you think something is going on that is unhealthy, approach the person of concern and let them know. You'll soon find out if there is anything more to worry about. If you get a bad reaction, don't push it any further.

If you find yourself thinking that YOU are not getting to the figure you want, take a step back and reevaluate your regime. Talk to professionals and see if there is something you can do different to get to your goal other than cheating with "bad" supplements. You may find you need to cut back your routine rather than increase it!

But most if all be mindful that this condition exists, without knowledge, you cannot look for signs or do anything about it.
