The hardest part is waking up!

Went for a jog this morning.

Besides slowly recognising that my alarm was going off, the hardest thing was actually waking up and convincing myself to go.

It’s still really dark at 5am in the morning at the moment. Also when you have just awoken from a great slumber you really want to go back to bed and sleep some more.

But NO! I resisted that urge, for one that I know makes a great start to the day.

That oxygen burning, lung filling start to the day that is, CARDIO!!!

The weather was perfect for it. Not snap frozen cold, and only a small amount of rain right at the end of the run, a great way to cool down.

So if you’re struggling with that actual getting up phase here are a few tips.

The night before, be prepared. Already have your running or gym gear ready so that yo don’t have to go stumbling around looking for it.

When your alarm goes off, try and sit to attention as quickly as possible. Sit on your bed edge for only a few moments and make sure you’re on your feet very soon after this.

Use an MP3 player to get motivated! Some good pumping beats will get your mind into the right type of mood.

Now you’re up, head outside and start up some carb burning, gut busting cardio!

And remember, don’t eat before you go. Wait till you return and then you can breakfast and relax a little in front of the news or cartoons.
