Cardio is cardio! Make no mistake about it...

Cardio.

Love it or hate it, this is your best friend for pure and simple fat loss. it won't grow you huge muscles, it will just get that fat off your body.

Now don't get me wrong, weights and resistance workouts will also burn cals, and they say the burn you feel a day later is the workout continuing. All this is true, but... cardio is cardio, there is no other way to get around it.

I have seen a fitness video clip in which one of the big burly men says, this is like a cardio workout... NO! Very NO!

If it was like a cardio work out, it would be a cardio workout, long intervals of high cardio vascular exercise.
Jogging,
Running,
Bike riding,
Star jumps,
Swimming,
anything that gets your heart rate up for a long period of time.

Not a quick burst of 10 reps that gets your rate up for a breif moment.

So anyway, where was i?

Oh yeah Cardio is cardio, no way out of it...

End rant...

So don't kid your self when setting up your workout routine, if you want weight loss ad proper cardio to your routine. Don't cheat yourself and say, "My weights workout is like a cardio as well."

one for the gals and for the boyz...(Mario Lopez, he's still got it!)

MMSOTW!

Sorry for the late posts of recent.

Been pumping it hard (that sounds wrong...) at the gym, listening to new tunes and working myself into a sweaty mess! (Still sounds very wrong...)

i know i put a fair bit of doof doof on my motivational music posts, but hey, it's what gets me motivated.

So if anyone wants a change of pace or want to tip me off for what music gets you pumped and active, let me know.

This guy seems to have made some pretty good remixes of some of the top charting hits. Here is the one that I found good to pull you out of the lower energy slump. Barakvanunu is his or hers name. reminds me of the better DJ mixes you hear in the clubs in Bali, not in your local pub.

Enjoy.

What to eat, pre workout...

I don't normally eat much before a workout. I guess this comes as a fact of timing more than anything. Workout at the end of the day, lunch eaten, snack eaten, nothing left in my lunch box kind of scenario.

But on most weekends when i work out, it is in the morning.

Now most creatine supplements ask you to have their liquid sherbet a half an hour to 40 mins before a workout. And I guess in some ways the energy provided in the creatine will most definitely give your body good fuel to burn.

however, there might be a need for some carbs to burn along with that if you’re looking for mass, or you might not be a pre-workout supplement kind of person and want to know what you can eat and when to give your body that extra bit of energy so you can bust your gut, but not feel like your gut is going to bust.

Here is a excerpt from the Australian Institute of Sport article on the matter.

The following foods are suitable to eat 3-4 hours before exercise:
·         crumpets with jam or honey + flavoured milk
·         baked potato + cottage cheese filling + glass of milk
·         baked beans on toast
·         breakfast cereal with milk
·         bread roll with cheese/meat filling + banana
·         fruit salad with fruit-flavoured yoghurt
·         pasta or rice with a sauce based on low-fat ingredients (e.g. tomato, vegetables, lean meat)

The following snacks are suitable to eat 1-2 hours before exercise:
·         liquid meal supplement
·         milk shake or fruit smoothie
·         sports bars (check labels for carbohydrate and protein content)
·         breakfast cereal with milk
·         cereal bars
·         fruit-flavoured yoghurt
·         fruit

The following foods are suitable to eat if there is less than 1 hour before exercise*:
·         sports drink
·         carbohydrate gel
·         cordial
·         sports bars
·         jelly lollies
So this morning I have had two Weetbix with milk an hour and a half before my predicted workout, and I’m contemplating having my pre-workout creatine as well…
What do you eat before your workout?
