Supplement
review number two.
Another
Pre-workout, Mr Hyde by ProSupps!
2nd
review for a pre workout supplement provided by my hook up.
Begin the
Judging!
As I did
with my C4 review I will compare similar traits and chuck some science junk in
at the end for educational purposes!
Taste: Sample
given was for watermelon, not sure if it really tasted like watermelon but
bearable as far as taste went. No bad aftertaste and it seemed to mix fairly
well, I don’t use a shaker, I just pour water in and keep swirling my cup till it’s
all gone.
Effects
Pre: This one really kicked in early with the tingles. The product said to take
it 20-30 before… I would wait for more like 10. The itches and tingles came on
within that 10 minutes of time.
Effects
Post: No crash experienced, slept well and felt normal through the rest of the
day.
Price:
Average price of about $54.95 for 40 serves. So a dollar thirty a pop if one
serve is enough, but compared to C4 only one serve was required in my tests
compared to requiring two.
Effect on
Workout: Again reading the ingredient list, I was pretty aware of what to
expect. A flushing or tingle sensation at moments of peak muscle tension, some
feel this as itchy. This is the key ingredient doing its thing, check the
Sciency stuff a bit further in to find out what that’s all about!
Product
Claims!!
Potent combination of high-powered thermogenic compounds* -
sure there is a combination of thermogenic components (all completely here say
till proven 100% in the science world) but with good eating, would the small
amounts actually relate to a leaner body?
Efficacious dose of Creatine Hydrochloride in every serving –
that big word at the start means “effective at” so I guess when you look at the
science stuff the HCL version of Creatine in this supp would most likely be efficacious…
Infinergy energy blend for maximum receptor sensitivity* -
Wow, Infinergy ™ sounds good, but really means “caffeine is in this supp” so
stimulants all the way. Beware if you are stim sensitive! Did I feel any more Infinergetic than normal, no, however I did not once yawn...
Infused with Agmatine Sulfate for muscle-swelling pumps and
nutrient transport*- sounds like a tea when you say infused, but really I’m
sure they just ad the ingredient like any other, surely they done let it sit
there for a period of time infusing… never the less… it is great for them to
mention it but muscle swelling… yeah I push pretty hard but I can get more pump
without it, the Beta Alanine is pretty much blocking this. (not to say that pump
means growth or anything but some people DO crave the pump (as Arnie says, “it’s
like cumming”))
Science Stuff!!
CREATINE HYDROCHLORIDE– What is different to HCL Creatine
than Monohydrate? Supposedly it is more potent than the monohydrate, this allegedly
means smaller doses and less fluid retention. Does it translate to this in the
field? Time and tests would tell… what it does mean for Pro Supps is that they
can up the doses of other things and lower the creatine %. Read my previous
review to see a little more about what creatine is actually doing in your body.
BETA ALANINE - This
is the primary ingredient to this Pre workout supplement. Surprise, surprise!
For more info on Beta Alanine in supplements also see my previous blog or last
review for C4. http://ff2f-kdawg.blogspot.com.au/2013/03/supp-review-beta.html
L-LEUCINE – Another BCAA (branch chain Amino Acid), this
particular type of BCAA is in here to try and promote muscle protein synthesis
however there is not a whole lot of evidence that this does translate into
muscle mass and size.
L-CITRULLINE MALATE – this little addition is in the supp to
prevent muscle fatigue. This form of Citrulline is synthetic and for those
looking for similar in nature, eat that tatesless part of the watermelon, the
closer to the rind you go the more citrulline you get.
AGMATINE SULFATE – designed to get your Nitric Oxide levels
up. This is supposed to create a pump in the muscle due to vascularity and
blood flow increase, but combined with the Beta, you will have to be dedicated
to get the pump if you so desire it.
N-METHYL-TYRAMINE – loads of science stuff written about
this compound. But cut through the crap and you will find that in the
supplement world it is touted as a great fat burner. Not proven though so im
sure its in here for the “why the hell not” factor.
2 FORMS OF CAFFEINE – Infinergy ™ which is just a caffeine substitute
and caffeine citrate so as the caffeine would imply, it is another stimulant
addition to the concoction.
PIKATROPIN PICAMILON – Russians designed it! Another vasodilator
to ad to the Nitric Oxide effects.
OCTOPAMINE HCL – unconfirmed, but could cause fat cells to release
their fat for energy use.
